Biography

Professor Dr. David John Ruffolo teaches in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University.  He is an expert in space physics and astrophysics, especially cosmic rays, energetic particles or gamma rays from space, and space plasma physics.  The latter is related to cosmic rays because magnetic fluctuations in the solar wind determine the transport of cosmic rays to Earth, including solar energetic particles from solar storms, which are a component of “space weather” that can affect astronauts, spacecraft, communications, and navigation at Earth as well as causing power outages at Earth’s surface.  He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert based on his research carried out in Thailand Space Physics over the past 31 years.
